Commercial solar

On-site generation that cuts grid import, not a brochure full of peak-sun promises.

Rooftop or ground-mount solar is one of the few energy measures you control on the premises. We look at roof, load and connection, then compare buying the system versus solar-as-a-service so the capital and the kWh saving are both in view.

No upfront quote fee. No obligation. Clear next steps before you switch.

On-site

Generation on your roof or land, used against your own demand first.

Buy or service

Outright purchase or a no-capex solar-as-a-service / PPA-style agreement.

Grid still there

Solar reduces import. You still need a supply contract for the rest.

Who it is for

Built around how the sites actually use energy

We match the product to the meters, the load and the contract you already have — not a generic package.

  • Warehouses, factories, schools and retail parks with a usable roof or land.
  • Businesses that want to cut electricity import without waiting on the next tariff.
  • Finance teams that prefer opex (paying for power) over a large capex outlay.
  • Sites already talking about green supply who want generation as well as certificates.

The range

Two main ways to do it

Options explained in plain English. Pricing is quoted to your sites and term — we do not publish a public rate card.

Buy the system

You (or a funder) own the panels, inverters and mounting. Higher upfront cost, you keep the generation. We still check structural, DNO connection and a realistic yield — not a sales-deck kWh figure.

Solar as a service

A third party funds, installs and maintains the system. You buy the power it produces, usually at a rate below grid, for an agreed term. Suited to businesses that want the kWh saving without owning an asset.

Export and residual supply

Unused generation can be exported. You still need an electricity contract for night, winter and cloudy days. We quote that residual supply alongside the solar so the whole picture holds together.

With EV charging or voltage optimisation

Daytime charging loads and inefficient incoming voltage both change the case for solar. We would rather design them together than bolt them on later.

Included

What a proper quote needs

  • A view of daytime vs overnight demand — solar only helps when the sun is up, unless you add storage.
  • Roof type, orientation, shading and planning constraints flagged early.
  • Grid connection / DNO implications rather than assuming you can export freely.
  • Maintenance, warranties and who is on the hook if the system underperforms.
  • The leftover grid electricity contract, not solar in isolation.

Worth knowing

A yield that ignores your load profile is just marketing

Panels rated in kWp are not the same as money off the bill. We size against when you actually use power, then talk about storage only if the numbers need it.

In practice

Where solar usually wins

A daytime warehouse

Lights, kit and charging all peak with the sun. Self-consumption is high, so the payback is not dependent on a generous export rate.

Capex is blocked this year

Solar-as-a-service keeps the project alive as an operating cost. We still compare it to buying, so you know what you are giving up.

A green target and a tired roof

Sometimes the roof needs work first. We would rather pause than put a 25-year asset on a five-year covering.

Questions

What should I know before I request a quote?

Yes. Solar covers part of daytime demand. Nights, winter and peaks still come from the grid. We quote that residual contract with the solar, not instead of it.
